The project intent was to build a table, of any type, from rough sawn lumber. I chose to build a table that might be used in an entry way or foyer. This table was constructed from maple and cherry woods. All connections were made using mortise and tenon joinery and wood glue.
The cross on the table top was made from cherry inlays and was meant to give the appearance of through-tenons.
The completed table was finished only with a clear lacquer to preserve the beauty of the natural wood.

Small scale models to visualize the proportions in 3 dimensions, of a few chosen designs. The AA battery is in included in the pictures to show scale. The model on top became the design for the final table.
Drawings made in AutoCAD were plotted out and used as templates.

The goal of this project was to redesign an existing object. The bird toothpick dispenser, on the left, was redesigned to be a penguin dispenser on the right, which included movable wings.
